Anglo-Frenchman
I have a 1993 200 TDI 110 CSW which has factory fitted air conditioning. Previously this has worked pretty well and although by modern standards perhaps not particularly efficient certainly brought the cab temperature down by several notches. Although it hasn't been particularly hot this year one or two days have been warm and I did switch the air con on and was rather disappointed to find that it does not seem to be getting cold anymore. Is it possible that there has been some leakage of the coolant or could it be something more sinister. In every other respect it all appears to work properly and the fans on the front cut in properly when switched on. Thanks, Ged
101sean
Suspect you need to get it re-gassed. You're suppossed to run it regularly even in the winter as the refrigerant is also a lubricant. The seals dry out and the gas seeps away.
Anglo-Frenchman
Thanks. Do you know if this is a very expensive operation in the UK?
Mr Bean
You will be looking at the £50 mark. If it doesn't hold the gas, and runs out again you will need a dye putting in to find the leak..... Once found it can be costly, i.e. condenser or compressor.
