slihp Posted August 1, 2007 Share Posted August 1, 2007 hi chaps; would love an explanation to what this is, and what it dose. the picture is the engine bay of defender TD5 the thing in the center has a pipe connected to it. the pipe runs along the back of the engine and then just hangs down. should this be connected to somthing. any info much appriciated. I think you will find that that pipe goes to the side of the air box next to the ambiant air pressure/temp sensor plug. The Vac controler on the inner wing is for the EGR system. slihp Posted August 2, 2007 Author Share Posted August 2, 2007 had a quick look at lunchtime. the only place i can see this pipe could go to is a collar on the bottom of the heater box (haynes terminology). is this corect. Then had a look at the workshop manual and it described it as in the image below 1. EGR solenoid 2. Vacuum hose 15. To Atmosphere 16. In line filter 17. Vent hose - EGR Solenoid to in-line filter so im now thinking it is 15, a pipe thst should just be left hanging. if this is not the case and it should be connected to the heater box as above, what damage if any would have been caused if it wasnt (it has been hanging since i got it approx 5 weeks) cheers guys Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
