you are absolutely correct, my bumper is made from 5mm m/s, reinforced with 40*20 solid flat, i deliberately made the cup ring big enough so that the outside edges top and bottom was full width of bumper so it would also spread the load onto the top and bottom faces of the bumper.

where i have situated them (right infront of the dumb irons) there is 15mm plate running right up behind the front face of the bumper which runs back and mounts the whole bumper to the chassis.

i agree that if these were welded to lesser material thickness (even if the welding is good) then they would deform wotever they were attached to under load.

i wouldn't however weld these to anyone else's vehicle because of liability purposes.

also some peoples interpretation of a weld is different to anothers, u're right, there's some right pigeon poopers out there
