sotal
Where is the OBDII located on a Discovery 1?? From what I have read all vehicles from 1996 are supposed to have them, my Disco is a 1995 registered vehicle but it apparently is a 96 Model, I know it might not have a OBDII port but if it did where would it be located? cipx2
Right about here: 1995 models didn't have this connector.
BogMonster
If it has EDC it must have the Testbook port I think... If the VIN number is MAxxxxxx then it is a 95, if it is TAxxxxxx then it is a
sotal
Hi Thanks for the replies, it's a TA 96, I'll have a look for that connector, is the OBD2 port the same as the testbook port? If it has got the OBD2 port do you know what info can be obtained from it?
sotal
I was hoping that a scangauge II could plug into it - any ideas if it would work?
sotal
Well it has the OBD2 port, a 16pin connector with eight wires attached, any idea if scangauge will work?
cipx2
It doesn't. Why? Because: 1. There's no mention of LR's in their compatibility list: http://www.scangauge.com/support/CompatibleVehicles.shtml 2. The protocol used is LR proprietary and not fully OBD compliant (there are some codes you can read on petrol engines).
sotal
Thanks for the info cipx2, is this port the testbook port?
cipx2
Yep, that's the one.
TheRecklessEngineer
Hmmm...i've got one of them...can you get any useful information out of it on a diesel? Diagnoses for strange vibrating noises perhaps?
