tuko
The last few months my hybrid has been in the garage, undrivable due to the fact that I can't start it. I've replaced everything and still nothing. Now that I'm digging deeper, I remember that I replaced the damaged original ignition switch 579085 with an aftermarket one about 6 years ago. (It may have been a Sh!tpart that I installed ) So I was able to pick up this morning an ignition switch PRC8230 from a Defender. When I'm going through the parts manuals, it appears to me that Land Rover upgraded from the 579085 to the PRC8230 switch. PRC8230 was used on the early petrol madels. So I'm wondering is, can I replace my possibly burnt out switch with this one that I know does work (we started the Defender before I removed it) Todd. sotal
Is it petrol or diesel - I'm guessing petrol?? I was going to say if it's diesel you don't need the key, just a spanner or screwdriver to start it
Tonk
a def part will fit a series, IIRC one of the terminals on the back is smaller on the def part though so your wiring will need changing to suit
tuko
Hej Tonk, Here is the switch, it doesn't look much differently than that which is there now. BUT I will see once I remove it I guess. Todd.
Tonk
i'm fairly sure a series has one large spade and the rest are 1/4". def are all 1/4" AFAIK
