smo
I'm fitting a new ignition barrel to my TD5 D-Lander, its the same as the one thats come out, however looking at the diagram nothing matches! (The original was removed months ago so cant copy the wiring) HELP! Where do the wires go? (Pin 4 is marked, but there is no pin!)
smo
No one got a TD5 they can look on??? PLEASE!
Roverdrive
Not got a vehicle to look at here, so it looks as though you have to get cosy with a multimeter. How confident with electrickery are you?
smo
Not confident enough to plug it in and crack on - if i know which one the input was i could figure out the rest with a multi-meter, however its not even clear which pin that should be! Roverdrive
Best to try it on the bench with the MM 1 seems a good place to start for the +ve feed. With the switch off, you shouldn't have a connection to any of the other circuits. Then turn key to position 1 or AUX. You should now have a circuit between 1 and 2, and nothing else Position 2 or IGN should give you a circuit between 1 and 2 + 1 and 3 The start position should give you a connection between 1 and 5. You may lose the circuit between 1 and 2. Hope this is of some assistance. Do the cable colours match up with the diagram you have posted? smo
Yup, cable colours match, just no indication of pins. Ive even dug out the old switch to check the terminals, and sadly there is no sign of wear on the terminals which would at least eliminate one of them! Roverdrive
You need to watch more CSI then! CAn you confirm that the new switch has four terminals and the old one had five? You have four wires to connect - yes?
smo
Switches are identical, same number of terminals, same layout, same part number. There are only 4 wires on the car - which all match the diagram.
Roverdrive
Can't really offer more help than what I have already said above. Unfortunately ( or not ) I am working offshore Brazil, so am not near any sort of vehicle to have a look. Have tried google with no success. Sorry m8y

LR90
As Roverdrive ^^^^ get the multimeter out and determine which pins are connected for which key position. Then wires/colours can be matched to the pins.
Porny
As Roverdrive ^^^^ get the multimeter out and determine which pins are connected for which key position. Then wires/colours can be matched to the pins. Smo.... as mentioned, get the multimeter out However, as long as your loom is in good condtion, with all the spade connectors/covers in place (all on your photo): I'm 99% sure that (I'm not responsible for anything that goes wrong!!!)..... based on a photo I've got lying around: green spade colour to pin 5 red spade cover to pin 1 white/clear space cover to pin 3 black spade cover to 2 I would work out the wire colours etc etc for you, but I haven't got time.... suposed to be Christmas shopping lol!!
