Ant
Saw this on a different forum: Green lanes at risk register It doesn't hold any surprises i.e. it's full of the usual 4x4 scapegoating. Obviously, people driving on footpaths and bridleways is not appropriate, but the crazy claims like 4 foot ruts and beggars belief.
pickup90
That makes for frightening reading.
andyb
It doesn't hold any surprises i.e. it's full of the usual 4x4 scapegoating. I'm afraid not. Pepperbox and Ox Drove entries are true. This is due to the w*nkers amoungst us
Ant
It's certainly a demonstration of how determined and organised they are. It's a shame that we (drivers of green lanes) don't seem to be able to put up as good a fight. I suspect a lot of it is simply down to numbers i.e. there's more of them and the general public is probably more swayed in their direction. Depressing really. This is due to the w*nkers amoungst us Don't get me wrong, I know there are those amoungst us that don't help our cause. I'm sure that some of that list is indeed true. My problem is that the facts get mixed in with generalised opinons and assumptions and does us no good at all.
Peter
I wonder how old that data is, as one of the Byways mentioned in Kent was resurfaced a few years ago. Another, which mentions vehicles dumped is party a political issue, and won't change by closing byways. If anything we have in the past dragged dumped vehicles out to the road, partly to clear the byway, but also so that the council will take them away. A section of the Pilgrims Way byway (north of Maidstone) has been closed forever by KCC due to 'dumping activities' - that did not stop the dumping, just mean't us lot were'nt able to move it or report it. Also this section has been closed to horses and everything else apart from 2 footers.
