300tdi Rocker shaft!!!

Recommended Posts

I've got a 300tdi rocker shaft, that has had the springs that keep the rockers in position distorted during transit. How do I separate the "blocks" on the ends from the shaft? Is it just a case of gentle persuasion??? They seem pretty firmly fixed on!

Cheers In advance

Chris

They are sweated on, so carefully tap them down the shaft until they come off. No need to remove the centre one obviously, and bear in mind there are two 'shapes' of rocker and washers that prevent the springs from digging into the pillars. To refit the the pillars, just warm them up and they slide on very easily.

Not that I did all this just recently you understand! :)

And so-on. I'm sure you can see the pattern :)

The shaft itself only wears on one side and I'm prettycertainalmostdefinitelyperhapsitwill - turn 180-deg to restore that 'straight from the factory' condition :P
