Fwd control diff ratios

So the carrier is different? Will I be able to get arb lockers for it?

I belive the carrier is the same its the spiders that have a different spline count. Yes arb do a locker for them but i belive you need special side gears to go with it. Not sure, i will let the others verify this.

When you say FC Salisbury diffs are you referring to the 6 wheel stud military 101 wheelbase 3.5 litre v8 powered forward control vehicles ,or the later Sth African spec 5 stud 110'' wheelbase 2.6 litre 6 cylinder series 2B models which were fitted salisbury diffs front and rear? If it's the former, their diff ratios are 5.58:1 IIRC, but you only have to change the ring and pinion because the carrier offset is identical to the 4.7 :1 ratio carriers. If it is the latter then no change is required as these vehicles retained the 4.7 :1 ratio final drives. IIRC the wheel track of the 101 axles is quoted as 60.5'.' For the 2b axles it's quoted at 55.5''. Standard series 3 wheel track is 51.5'' on stock swb 5'' wide wheels and around 52.5'' on stock 5.5'' lwb rims

The front spring spacing on both types of axles is identical to series3, but the rear springs are spaced further apart and are spring over, so you will need to reposition the spring mounting saddles on the rear axle. The 101 front axle is spring over but has identical spring saddles under the axle tube as well. As Grem mentioned the 101 axles have larger diameter halfshafts and to fit arb lockers requires broached out sidegears. ARB have done them but are never too enthusiastic when asked to do them again. McNamara Differentials in Melbourne have also done a batch or 2 but the proprieter Jeff can be an absolute PITA to do business with to put it kindly. The 2B axles are the same 24 spline configuration as the series 3 and accepts the same ARB locker.

Bill.

Thanx a ton Bill. Ever thought of writing a book? More than you ever need to know about Landrovers.
