Screen For My Ordnance Survey Problem

Recommended Posts

i have my ordnance survey that i currently run off my laptop that i have to have sat on the cubby box when im using it, what i want to do is install a screen on the dash, that will show exactly what i currently see on the laptop screen, and make driving alot safer than swerving to miss those ditches that you nearly go down when you turn your head to look at the laptop!

can anyone give me any pointers as to what screen i need and what spec?how it connects to the laptop? and where to get one?

Any small 6/8/10" VGA screen will do. most small ones like that use an external 12v supply, and just plug into the VGA socket on the back of your laptop.

something like this

you then need to switch the laptop to "external feed", which is usually alt+Fn5, which toggles from "laptop screen", "both" then "external screen"

You then need a form of mount, search for Walfy's good thread on the mount he made for his screen.

some laptops have "video out" on them, which is a yellow coloured phono socket, this you can plug into a monitor, as opposed to a VGA screen, although colour resolution isn't quite as good.
