draper40
Hey, I have an alternator off a 200tdi disco and a 200tdi defender engine. They look the same but are they different rating's? How do I tell? Thanks Pete
western
should be a label stating the make/model/amperage on it, IIRC Defender 200Tdi standard alt. is or was a 45amp & Discovery 200TDi had a 65amp.
draper40
There is a label on it that has a barcode and then what looks like a date a possibly a serial number but not the amperage. Pete
western
can you put up a picture of the label, might be able to decode it.
draper40
Western, Thnumbers/letters are as follows: Top left (below bar code): R5907 Top right: DD Bottom left: 24403 Bottom Right (below DD): 3/16/03 Any idea? Pete
western
The 24403 is a Lucas part number. in the 110 1987 on parts book a 65amp is Lucas 24220 45amp is Lucas 24199 still hunting for the amp rating of a 24403 alt. Bottom Right (below DD): 3/16/03 = a build date 16th March 2003
draper40
The other is a 2005 with the part number starting with a 6.
draper40
The 2003 is a disco one if it helps. Pete
western
found a 72amp & a 85 amp alternator in the EPC Discovery V8 EFI section, doesn't give any Lucas part numbers for comparison though, can't find the 24403 on the Lucas Europe website, it just says 'no search results'. probably the quickest way to find the amp rating is get a auto electrics place to put it on their test rig.
