TheBeastie
The Beastie is a 1991 200Tdi and it has developed a weepy clutch master cylinder. I am trying to source a replacement. The EPC software suggests 550732 when I put in my VIN. Craddocks do not recognise but Paddocks do. They have two - one unbranded at £10.43 (550732R) and a Lucas one at £19.40 (550732G). I assume that means replacement and genuine. Would I be right in thinking that I am better getting a genuine Lucas one since hopefully the new one will last for a long long time or am I making an incorrect judgement there? Also are there any other bits I am likely to need to complete the job - like do some parts typically corrode and also get replaced at the same time? I ask since I need to try and do the job in one session and get The Beastie back on the road, not lose a week whilst I wait for some unexpected part to arrive. I already have a big bottle of brake fluid and know I will need to try and get some clear piping to bleed the system. Thanks and best wishes Malcy
Les Henson
Use the Lucas master cylinder - they are far better than unbranded ones. Apart from fresh fluid and a means to bleed the system, I don't think you need anything else unless it all goes pear-shaped Les.
