DrRob
Hi Had 2 track rod ends (one on the drag, other on tube behind axle) fitted to pass the MOT (at same garage). The steering wheel is now "off centre" on straight ahead. Do I simply remove the wheel and realign or have the tracking checked and then re-align? Any help appreciated....... Ta Rob PS Off to hospital today to fix a slipped disc so won't reply for a few days. Ta.
paintman
If it wasn't off centre before they did the work go back to the garage and get them to put it right.
clbarclay
Don't adjust the steering wheel on the steering column wheel, this should be set up in relation to the steering box. If only ball joints where changed then they should still be setup right for each other. FYI the rod behind the axle is the 'track rod'. The adjustment on this sets the toe in/out, so probably best to get this checked as they may have not set this up correctly when changing the ball joint as well. To set the position of the steering box/steering wheel relative to the wheels you should adjust the drag link.
