MuddyMachine
My belt has just snapped on my disco, Can I drive it to go pick up a new one Or should I leave it until its changed? Cheers
Les Henson
I wouldn't advise it - the water pump will not circulate the water, so the engine will rapidly overheat. Les.
discojmz
what age discovery? if it's a 200tdi the alternator belt only drives the alternator in which case you;d be fine, just dont use your lights, stereo etc if you can help it (keep electrical use to a minimum)

ChrisB
When my alternator belt snapped on my 200tdi Disco I was on nights, so couldn't get a new one for a week or so. Just charged up the battery during the day so I could use the indicators etc. Make sure you don't use heater/blower, demister etc - these will drain lots of power quite quickly. Lights are obviously essential, but use sparingly! Chris
