Froggie
When I start my Td5 from cold, after the engine has started approx 1 to 2 seconds later i hear a "Clunk" coming from the drivers side front, it sounds like its in the engine compartment just behind the bulk head. If i immediatly turn the engine off and back on again it, dont happen, but if i left it for 5-10 mins and tried to start it again it would re-occur. Any ideas????? ta
BogMonster
Probably the ABS modulator doing its self test thing, if yours has ABS?
JimAttrill
I reckon it could be the doofer switch. Nothing to worry about.
BogMonster
It'll be 50001 IP addresses in a minute sunshine Actually I was wrong. The ABS modulator is on the passenger side (left hand side, I'm assuming the vehicle is RH drive) in a D2. So unless yours is left hand drive, it won't be coming from the drivers side... Not sure about any other ideas.
JimAttrill
Glow plug relay? It's there on the driver side.
BogMonster
If you mean the timer unit, a Td5 doesn't have one Jim
Froggie
I reckon it could be the doofer switch. Nothing to worry about. Forgive me for my stupidity (just in case I am being stupid), but what is a DOOFER switch. When i get the chance, I will stick my head in the engine and get someone to start it, to find exactly where its coming from. I cannot see it being a "feature" of the TD5, but then again it doesnt sound like a fault
BogMonster
Over to you to explain Mr Attrill
JimAttrill
The doofer switch is found under the thingamajimmy panel, next to the widget actuator. It's also know as the wossis switch because people point at it and say 'wossis'?

sotal
I borrowed a 1999 td5 for the weekend and that did the same, if you just rested your foot on the accelerator you could feel vibrations from the clunk. No idea what is was though

No idea what is was though Mine does the same so it sounds like it is normal and nothing to worry about. Still curious as to what it is though :-) Andy
