PeterL
Have a 53 plate disco 2, manual with T/C & ABS, but no diff lock. Would I be better getting the mod kit to fit diff lock to the gearbox or fit a locker in the back axle. It goes off road, mailnly with 14ft ifor williams flat bed, but finds is difficult to tow, I have been advised to fit a diff lock, but which is the best route. BogMonster
You want a centre diff lock before you even think about axle difflocks. The ETC does a fairly good job cross-axle. What tyres are you using if you are having difficulties towing off road? Trying to tow on road tyres is likely to end in tears
JimAttrill
Doesn't your ETC work? That was the justification for LR removing the CDL in the first place.

Yep, the ETC works, but the 90 with Grabber AT's, same tyres as on the disco has no problems, the disco seems to struggle, even with the extra power. Who should I look to for the centre diff upgrade and has anyone done this, cost and any issues to be aware of??
BogMonster
Ashcroft Transmissions do it, and the guts to the transfer box if needed (depends on your t/box) see here http://www.ashcroft-transmissions.co.uk/part_17.html The ETC is rubbish on many surfaces so I think the upgrade will make the difference you are looking for. I've never got around to it on mine but then I use the Defender for going anywhere interesting.
