g90
Ever since i have had the defender i have had no problem what so ever getting it into difflock, but getting it out is a different matter. i have tried allsorts of manouvers but the only way i can get it out is to remove the middle seat and jam a screwdriver in-between the linkage and gearbox casing and it pops out. At present this is restricting me from getting a cubby box.. i finally took a look at it the other day and the lever appears to 'bottom out' in the unlock position before any significant movement occurs on the linkage. what have i got in there and how do i go about it? thanks, george
Escape
The linkage can be adjusted, IIRC at the center pivot. I would try to disconnect the linkage at the transfer case, see if it can operate as desired and then reconnect the linkage with the proper adjustements. mike4444244
If you dismantle the linkage you will see it contains some plastic 'top hat' shaped bushes, these wear out and can be cheaply replaced, its worth trying this first...
