michael66
Hi i am stripping a 200tdi defender and need to know if i can take the engine/gearbox out in one lump. There is a forklift at hand to do the heavy work and no wings front panels on the car. Trying to save time splitting the engine box. Thanks Mick

Orange
In theory, yes, but you will have to make sure that you can support the whole lot from the forks, which may be the issue... It will also take a bit of wiggling to get around everything on the way out. For the sake of 10 (I think) nuts/bolts around the bell housing, it's definitely be easier to separate them. western
Yes, be be careful & don't get between the engine/gearbox assembly & forklift or vehicle during the extraction from the vehicle, working from the sides is OK, but still be wary of a very heavy lump.
