defender 200tdi

Recommended Posts

Hi i am stripping a 200tdi defender and need to know if i can take the engine/gearbox out in one lump. There is a forklift at hand to do the heavy work and no wings front panels on the car. Trying to save time splitting the engine box.

Thanks Mick

yeah you can, its easiest with a bluepoint engine hoist, which allows you to change the angle of the engine and box. it will need to be at about 45degrees to miss everything. it took my 2.5na out like that and put my disco tdi and lt77 back in like it. no probs at all, saved a lot of messing!!

In theory, yes, but you will have to make sure that you can support the whole lot from the forks, which may be the issue... It will also take a bit of wiggling to get around everything on the way out.

For the sake of 10 (I think) nuts/bolts around the bell housing, it's definitely be easier to separate them.
