HoggyN
Thanks for all the info. what would you recomend as a starter. Recently did a HNC in process engineering and as such had a good understanding of autocad 2006.Would a bundle with cosmos be applicable? i think i read it gives training with this package. £258? It depends on what you are going to use it for. For most non-professional use, probably not. I think the training you refer to is some kind of dvd based interactive product - not face to face. Like most CAD systems SW does take a degree of dedication to become proficient. Unless you are very rich or going to use it to make you loads of money I can't see forking out for the full non-educational version being a viable option. Find someone elegible to get the discounted version, spend 50 quid and try it out. Unfortunately, I don't think they do a free trial option - although, like virtually all software products, I suspect 'free' full versions are available if you know where to look.
