Is this for Lambda

I'm fitting a new, well to me anyway, V8 on hotwire and there are these 2 plugs, are they for lambda, and if they are what will happen if i don fit lambda sensors.

I have changed the tune resistor from cat to non cat, and won't be running cats. If that makes a difference.

Don't know about the plug but, yes it's best to use the lambda sensors as they monitor the amount of oxygen left in the exhaust.

The hotwire air mass sensor measures the amount of air coming into the engine, the ECU then calculates the appropriate amount of fuel to be injected, the lambda sensor then checks the exhaust gas to ensure that this is correct and feeds this information back to the ECU so that small adjustments are made.

If the Lambda sensors are not fitted then the circuit is an open-loop system (no feed back) with lambda sensors it is a closed-loop system (feedback).

Cheers for the reply,

I'm not too concerned about the efficincy of the closed loop system as long as the ecu dosn't go into limp mode or similar, do yo uknow if it will be ok with out the lambda sensors.

p.s. it's on a competition car
