JST Posted January 30, 2009 Share Posted January 30, 2009 i am trying to get an M8 screw with no head out of its current hole! looking at screw extractor sets the smallest i have found states 3-6 what is a 3-6? 3mm - 6mm? is it small enough to for an M8 screw? BogMonster Posted January 30, 2009 Share Posted January 30, 2009 Screw extractors are tapered so I would think it means the sharp end is 3mm and the top end 6mm but just a guess. integerspin Posted January 30, 2009 Share Posted January 30, 2009 I tend to just drill the fastener out, well I try;-) I do regrind drills lh but if I have to drill with an air drill[don't get on with cordless tools] I use a rh drill. If I have to use an extractor I reach for a fluted extractor and only try a tapered one if the fluted one I want is broken. You can etch bolts out, same for the broken bits of extractors.
