Hi, i am after a down pipe for a 1994 3.9i disco but the pipe for this has cats which i do not want, it has been suggested to me that the down pipe for a 1992 3.9i which has no cats will fit. Can anyone confirm this and if possible give me the part no.

it may well fit, although you could fall foul of the MOT man come test time, as yours should have cats fitted to it.

does it need replacing due to corrosion, or cat failure? if they have failed, cut em open, gut em, and weld em back up as empty boxes. (cut the tops off though, where the mot man can't see :) )

The disco runs on lpg so emissions are ok the problem is noise from the cats which have fall to pieces. i do like your idea of taking the bits out and leaving in place

I can see your point about the LPG, although it should still have the cats fitted for the test, otherwise (depending on the tester) it may fail for having missing cats. the new one man test system doesn't like it when the tester tries to tell the system that a cat equipped car, hasn't got one.

cut em open and take the innards out is by far the easiest solution.

Present the disco to the MOT station running on LPG and this is what they have to test it on. I recently had mine tested on LPG and it certainly has no cats, tubular/stainless system from my old 3.9 Rangie. Passed.
