oil leak on rear axle hub

Recommended Posts

just a quick one,

ive got an oil leak (surprise, surprise!), its on the rear hub, ive taken the dust cap that protects the ends of the splines with the circlip on the end, and it seems to be coming from there.

before, i go ordering a load of seals i may not need, has anyone got an idea which one it could be?

has anyone done this before and got any pointers??

thanks jase

nothing to worry about, oil at that end is good for the splines that drive the wheels, put some grease inside the plastic centre cap & refit.

Tip, put the cap in very hot water, then dry it, put some wheel bearing grease in & fit to hub, if the cap is split just fit a new one, warming it allows you to fit it easier & as it cools it grips the hub better.
