muddyplugger
I am going to delve into the mystery of replacing an ABS wheel sensor, but found a bolt holing the brake caliper on the hub. It is splined and I wonder what tool is needed (except LR tool#2)
DEANO3528
No mystery matey, it's just a 12 point bolt head. Use a 12 point socket or spanner (impact/walldrive won't work as they are 6 point).
muddyplugger
Oh! Right! Simple then? I think I have one of them spanner things in my drawer!!! Thanks Deano!
Dunc
I am going to delve into the mystery of replacing an ABS wheel sensor You don't need to take the brakes off to do the wheel sensor. Not long done mine and you don't even need to take the wheel off. It's a 10minute job, 1 screwdriver, a pair of pliers and a small hammer. Undo the sensor from where it goes into the modulator on the inner wing. Lay under the vehicle, unclip the cable from its clip up by the chassis on its way to the inner wing. Pliers, pull the sensor out of the back of the hub. Check the copper/brass thing didn't come out of the hub, push the new sensor in. Replace cable into clip, plug into modulator. Bingo! Best of luck with it.
muddyplugger
Dunc, Was that Disco II? If so I will be so happy! I undertand that you can replace them like that on the Tdi's. I await in anticipation...........
Dunc
I await in anticipation... Unfortunately, anticipation wasted bud. My apologies, method as described was indeed Tdi. I'll get hold of my mate Andy (knower of all things) and ask him if you can do the same on the Disco 2, post back tomorrow. Dunc
