ian_s
so i found a small problem with my 200tdi, the crankshaft moves back and forth by quite a large amount. i dont have a dial gauge, but i measured it with a ruler to be just under 1mm. i'm guessing this is a bit too much, as the book reckons about 0.25mm maximum is it possible to change the thrust bearings that control the endfloat without removing the engine? western
nope, the ladder frame has to be removed as do the sump & oil pump for access to the main bearing caps. & to remove those bits means engine out job. as bolts from the flywheel housing go in to the rear of the ladder frame.
