Fast idle when warm and running on

Recommended Posts

My 85 rrc runs fairly well ticking over about 800rpm when the choke is first pushed in how ever as it gets up to temp (needle in middle of guage) the tickover rises to 1000-1100rpm.

On sat when stuck in traffic and she got a bit warm (radiator on todo list) needle 2/3rds up the guage the tickover slowly rose to 1800-2000rpm!

Also when its ticking over fast and turned off it tends to run on for a couple of seconds, is this related?

Is it normal for tickover to rise with engine temp?

Is it easy to adjust/fix?

This is my first V8 I'm generally a diesel boy, but couldn't resist the noise.
