CURLY
I have blue smoke on start up, but it clears within a mile and then it runs clean. I thought it could be the valve stem seals maybe? Didn't want to take the head off, so was wondering if you can change them with the head on? Cheers, CURLY
western
if you can find a way of holding the valves in the closed position it might be possible, but probably quicker to removed the head & do it on the bench.
bushwhacker
Hi. I bought a tool that enables you to do the valve stem oil seals with the head still on. I think it was a VS 168. The post should still be on here. The only thing I would say is to block of all holes with clean rags to prevent the tiny collets falling in to holes. (I dropped one into the pushrod tube but managed to recover it on a magnet). Remove the heater plugs it lets the engine turn over more easier. You can also put some string in the heater port and down on to the top of the piston to help keep the valve up when that piston is at TDC. Remove the string and do the next valves. Check back to the 14th June
