DrRob
Hi '93 Tdi Classic: The fuel flap is starting to play up i.e. it doesn't always open when the button is pressed on the steering column. Usually after 3/4 presses it springs open. Where should I start? Not an electrical wizard but was thinking of checking for live feed to the rear when the button is pressed. Will need to but a multimeter first though Any help / pointers appreciated... Rob
bishbosh
I suppose the first thing to do is determine if it is an electrical or mechanical fault. With a handy helper pressing the release switch, listen at the flap to see if you can hear the solenoid activating. If you can, then the mechanism probably needs some attention. If you can't hear the solenoid then that's your first culprit....

Someone on LRO has mentioned to check the column switch contacts are clean and good first. I assume that just prizes off the shround?
