mudmuncher
Hi all My power steering box is leaking badly !!! It looks as if its leaking from where the steering column enters the box but its hard to tell as there is fluid everywhere. I see that seal kits can be brought has anyone tried fitting this kit ?? Or is it best to replace the box (hopefully not) Can the kit be fitted without removing the power steering box from the motor ??? Many thanks all Chris
reb78
I dint have any first hand experience, but on reading lots of other peoples posts on this - a few recently on LRO it seems that most people that have replaced seals seem to have replaced the box a few months later as the mew seals fail as well. Reiny
New seals usually fail because the shaft will be pitted. Where I come from, we get a machine shop to re-fill the pitting with weld and turn the welds down on a lathe. It usually works a treat.
