white90
As long as it isn't expensive Headgaskets are common enough job on TDIs
nickt
does that mean its likely to just be a gasket replacement rather than a lump of scrap
western
be prepared to have the cylinder head skimmed too, just as a precaution in case it's not dead flat.

western
sorry another stupid question im only used to petrol engines if i have a diesel head skimmed will i need a different size head gasket so not to change compression ratio the 200 & 300 Tdi's head gaskets go on the piston protrusion above the engine block face, the head gasket come in 4 thicknesses to suit the amount of protrusion measured, measuring piston protrusion on a 300Tdi done the same way on a 200Tdi engine & head gasket thickness is common to both engines. head gasket thickness info hope those help
