DRUMMING NOISE

Hi, my discovery started making a hollow drumming sound when turning right, About 3 miles later it started doing it when turning both ways. After leaving the last round about near home it felt like i had last all steering and stopped at the side of the road.

On moving off again it felt fine but still with the noise when turning also the steering started to fell like it had a judery resistance to it.

Any help or ideas would be great.

Start by checking the steering rod UJs (between steering column and box)- they can seize.

check power steering fluid level

check belt condition

One of your CV joints in the front axle is partially seized and not long for this world - exact same symptoms as mine gave when the off-side CV seized.............

I'd put money on it.

have checked the belts /u.j and fluid all ok.

what are the costs involved in replacing the c.v joint and how easy is it to do.

Hi, jacked up front end today, No rumbles or roughness when spining the wheels.

Also minimal movement when shaking the wheels.

Drivers side wheel when giving a sudden spin gives a clunk?.

Also has two split boots on the ball joints on the bar thingy at the front.

Looks like iam driving the cinquecento for the time being lol.
