FridgeFreezer
Well I think I've managed to translate your posts into coherent English... now, i think! just a question of gearbox mountings? any ideas? I posted pics already of gearbox mountings, just use the standard ones (one on the Gbox, one on the LT230) they bolt through the chassis (you need to tube it though). also any ideas on any kind of rad that will fit in front space behind front grill? Either standard Series as Jon says or wave your tape measure round and find something that fits or get one made. when i get disco transfer box which bits do i need to keep off, defender tbox? Nothing if they're both complete. You need to make sure the shift mechanisms will all work out though, so may need to swap a few bits. MECCANO
Sorry i may have missed this, but what engine have/ are you going to fit in front of this? I've done exactly what you are suggesting except in metric (100mm) and you will find the front pulley/ sump is quite close to the front axle. I made custom engine mounts to locate off the orignal chassis mounts positions so there were no chassis mods. With these i also incorporated a slight lift on the engine height to clear the axle. How ever the only reason i moved mine forwards is becuase its an 88", and to be honest i'm having second thoughts. and even with it moved this far forwards you will still need to shorten the rear prop by 35mm. For rads the tdi one will fit above the crossmember, and between the relay and wing. As for the hand brake brackets. If you use a defender one, on the side of the transfer. You will find it is very close to the brackets for the original hand brake leaver. It might be worth looking at the disco hand brake assembley as the cable comes straight out of the backplate with no addition leavers. I also run a 1.2 transfer with 3.5 diffs and a 2.25 petrol engine. and it actually goes alright. Not as over-geared as i was expecting. Something wroth noting, you might find the gear leaver gets very close to the dash with this setup. I doesn't in my lwt.. mainly because i don't have one Although i do miss my heater Oh and James, with a v8, look on thebay for sd1 v8 lt77's. If you use the front of one of these you end up with a 6 inch bellhousing which doesnt require an adapter.
