ajh
Are there any tricks to getting the SLU out to replace the gaiters? Am I going to have to go buy a really big open-end wrench?
western
you need very slim open end spanner for these or tap the ball joint nut around with a drift/hammer
Turbocharger
I probably don't know the answer, but ... what was the question??

ajh
I am still slightly confused, would someone possibly have a photo? Thin wrenches are pretty hard to come by, can I just grind one down?
western
can't find a picture of the thin jaw spanner, a gound down open end spanner of the correct size would do the job.
ajh
Does anyone know the size of tappet wrench I need to do this? I am now in town and would really like to get the right one. That and I may end up forced to special order one.
ajh
So cutting torch it is! Would have liked to keep it but none of the manuals even hint at how to get it out.
western
I removed the upper bracket from the chassis & used a old chisel & hammer to undo the lowerball joint nut.
ajh
Yeah, except you need to get both undone to get the new gaiters in place, and the SLU is perfectly fine, the gaiters were just torn, I am now going to leave that part up to whoever buys the salvage part.
