Intermittent Cigarette Light Socket Power

The only way I can retain any semblance of sanity driving on Britain's road system is to listen to Planet Rock on my Pure Highway DAB radio. This is powered from the cigarette lighter socket - well, when I say 'powered' - sometimes it is, sometimes it isn't... HELP! I've got a long motorway journey to make next week, and I'll go up the wall if I've got no DAB radio... I've had the centre console out and checked the wiring to the back of the socket - everything's fine there. So - the problem clearly lies elsewhere. Before I go stripping the entire interior out, can anyone point me towards any known problem spots please? For a start, I believe there's a wiring junction somewhere that supplies the socket that can go belly-up, but I don't know where this is located... I've done a search on here, but couldn't find any answers - any help would therefore be most appreciated! :)

Damn - the thread title should have read 'lighter'... Doh!
