Giles tout terrain Posted May 14, 2010 Share Posted May 14, 2010 My 2001 y reg p38 is a bit rattly sounds like from the top end? any one any ideas? it;s a bit mettalicy the alternator bearings are a bit rumbly as well which i think makes it sound worse! sheltie50 Posted May 14, 2010 Share Posted May 14, 2010 The BMW engine can be noisy if the oils hasnt been changed for a while, it uses hydraulic cam followers but the cam can wear, my one makes more noise that I would like, the can isnt worn and the oil is clean so no reason found yet.
