jad
Hi On our trialler we have disco 1 brakes with the double hoses that come to the front of the axle. We have +2 inch shocks and brake hoses and standard length springs and shock mounts. The problem is any position we try and put the chassis mount, the brake hoses hit the tyre and/or the bracket that the panhard rod attaches to on the chassis. If we move the mount up it doesnt hit but then on full drop the brake hose is too short etc etc I was wondering if someone could firstly post a picture of the standard place the hoses are bolted in, as i cant find a pic online and dont have a disco 1 to look at and secondly has anyone experienced a problem like this and knows how to get around it? picture of what you have done would be lovely as well thanks for your help James
Dave W
I have a similar setup and eventually gave up on having them in front of the spring mounts and put them behind. Not sure why they are better behind although in my case I don't think the double front shocks made life any easier at the front. You can use the standard mounting bracket, just drill a second hole for the flexi to bolt to. At the axle end you'll need to make a bracket or you can get away with swapping them from one side to the other and drilling/cutting them as needed. Here's a pic of the first one I did using the existing brackets (swapped axle end brackets over from one side to the other): Not got any pics of the second vehicle I did but it was similar, the main difference being I made the brackets up from scratch. Don't forget to slot the brackets so you can get the calliper off without unbolting the bracket or splitting the brake system.
