LandyManLuke
A multimeter can be had for very little money and is useful in many different ways. I'd recommend one. I have a lead which is a cigar lighter plug to meter lead ends - great for just checking the voltage without having to hold probes on terminals, although it's not going to give an amazingly accurate battery voltage, but it serves its purpose.
