LandyManLuke
The sleeve is part of the alternator. It slides in and out to meet the back of the engine bracket. Does the alternator swivel at all?
western
the sleeve is the sliding bush in the rear end mount, it's meant to be there so the alternator can be fitted in the correct place for the drive belt, with all the bolts out, move the adjusting link clear & rock the alternator body forwards/backwards or put a prybar between the rear mount & bracket to prise the bush back, it will lift out.
