DiscoStu
Hi all, I've got a snapped bolt problem! Whilst fitting a steering guard I've managed to snap the head off the lower steering box bolt. Does anyone have any magic remedies that I haven't thought of or is it just heat/hammer repeat? I know there is no such thing as a simple job. Why do I feel the need to keep on proving it to myself.... Stu.
monkeyb0y
Easy outs are no good .. only thing is can you weld a stud on...the heat shud crack it...or centre punch and drill...gonna be a bitch I'm afraid..
leon_81
Had the same on my mates Disco, ended up having to use a blowtorch and sledge hammer to get it out! On the plus side, it was only about £3 for a new bolt
sutty_32
I managed to get an air gun on the nut (the bolt side fell out when it snapped) and just tightened the nut, it soon rattled it free and spun out in less a min! I was so surprised that a job went well I had to go tell someone! haha
disco_al
try a socket and breaker bar on the other end with some penetrating fluid (duck oil for example) it may come free. makes me quite glad my sterring box has a slight leak, keeps the bolts well lubed
