Retroanaconda Posted March 26, 2011 Share Posted March 26, 2011 Cutting supply to that wire will prevent the engine from firing yes. You could also use the exciter wire for the starter solenoid, this will prevent the engine from turning over at all. Of course, it could be argued that these could be bypassed with a few wires and some croc-clips in a few minutes, so it's all a bit pointless, but it would defeat an opportunist joyrider Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
cackshifter Posted March 27, 2011 Share Posted March 27, 2011 Yes though a friends factory used to have a siren the size of a small dustbin out of reach just above the alarm panel. You had 30 secs from entry to switch off the alarm or the siren went off, and you couldn't function near it, it was stupendously loud even with an arm over your ears. Once it went off you could't help hurrying to try to switch it off. Maybe something of that ilk in a confined space might discourage driving even if you start the engine.
