richie1893
Hi guys, New to the forum. I have recently acquired a Freelander TD4(04). Got the car off my missus as she now has a company car. Since buying the car a couple of years ago we have always been missing a key. Well today I popped in to Landrover to order a new spare key. The guy on the desk took my details and checked the V5. He then proceeded to tell me that the key would cost £102.00. Fare enough I thought. He then went on to explain that I would have to pay another £55.00 to have the key "chipped" to my car. I chuckled because I actually thought he was joking. He then proceeded to explain no he wasn't taking the tiddle. £157.00 for a replacement key, you are having a laugh!!! I know there is a little plastic "chip" in the key fob and I also know that there is no way that thing costs £55.00. Was he taking the tiddle or am I going to get stung for a replacement key? Landrover are about to receive an e-mail from a what used to be proud Freelander owner. Richard

tim_roberts
When I had to get a replacement for my Renault Clio, my local key/cobbler shop did it for about half the price of the dealer. It's worth asking.
