Darren Roberts
All, As the topic says, are Mk1 Discovery Doors (4 door model) interchangeable with Range Rover Classic 4 doors? cheers Darren
V8david
short answer, no. the black frame bit looks like it could be, as well as some of the internals, but the skins definitely not.
Darren Roberts
thanks very much... won't bid on the discovery doors then!
Range Rover Blues
The carcase is the same, the window frame etc but the skin doesn't match. (assuming we are talking concealed hinge in both cases) they might well fit, I've seen a few RRC/Disco hybrids too.
V8david
They have a very similar overall shape but definitely will not fit right/look right. Disco doors have a sort of V groove that runs along the vehicle just below the door handles, they then have a little step out just above the rubbing strip jobbie. RRC doors step in then step out again further down. I agree there are lots of interchangeable parts, we are talking about british leyland at the end of the 80's after all, but they will not be a simple 'swap' which is what I believe Darren is after. Darren Roberts
Hi Guys, Yes you're right I was after a straight swap - only code there's some disco doors going cheap nearby and the nearside rear one on my 92 Classic has rot in the shell. Thanks for your help, everyone. cheers Darren
Range Rover Blues
I have the same problem. I might end up cutting the front out a spare Disco door I have and welding it in.
