4bitsofwood
The side air intake noise on my new Defender is adding to the in cab noise levels - but are snorkels any quieter or do they just shift the noise higher?

Should prevent a little less noise but its not a bad noise to listen to??
matthew74
If all you can hear is noise from the side air intake in a defender then you are one lucky b*****d!
Escape
A plastic air intake may be a bit quieter, but a SS pipe will surely add to the noise. Very obvious on my Rangie V8, with the snorkel on the driver side and driving with the window open I can clearly hear how much air is being drawn in (could be usefull if the MAF ever dies on me ). And as above, sounds like a very strange comment for a Defender!
ashtray
My td5 safari snorkel is a bit noisy at high revs, sounds nice imo
