landy andy.
The side lights work as they should, with a low current going through to the main head light, but when switch is in the dipped position I have sidelights only no dim headlight. But then, if you switch to main beam, then turn back to dipped they all work fine, till next time you use them. I know there is a box somewhere that controls this low voltage to the headlight business, and am thinking that may be the problem. Any thoughts.......... Where is this box of tricks.......... Thanks Andy
western
might be a problem with the dim dip relay, it's the pink one behind the instruments in the far right corner. looks like this one [upper item is the resistor, bolted to inner wing rear corner] or might be a faulty main light switch. landy andy.
Thanks Ralph, It's not the main light switch, tested that, and I did not know where the relay was to be able to check. Will have a look for the resistor thing, havent noticed it before. Thanks Andy
Frax
Here is the location on the inner wing if you can make it out - you would need to remove you wheel arch to see it.
western
if you look outboard of the brake servo, in the right rear corner of the engine bay, [vehicles right not yours] you should see the flat rear face of the resistors mounting plate, you'll probably need a good torch as it's not easy to access. landy andy.
Thanks lads, Can it be bypassed? Is it exspensive? Andy
western
yes it can, by unplugging the relay & making up a short jumper lead to plug in to the relay base to connect the 2 red/blue wires IIRC, I believe Mike [mmgemini] has posted this little dodge in here somewhere, try a search for dim dip threads. landy andy.
Just making my way through the search results now. I assume that when bypassed, the sidelights will only light when in the sidelight mod, and no dim headlights. Andy
western
yep, just reverts to normal operation, without dimdip.
