landy_andy
These connectors are useful if your waterproofing your MS in a box : http://www.l-com.com/familylist.aspx?id=3424 Use a female DB9 & a D-Sub cover for an IP67 comms port on your ECU. No more having to remove the box cover to update that map file
Hybrid_From_Hell
What are you using as your ecu box ? Those in the link look nice but couldn't see at db37 one ? I am looking into waterproof ecu housings at the moment as for 4x4 applications it would make sense - so any info / pics would be fabbydoos Glad to hear its coming along well Nige
landy_andy
Hi Nige, Here is a list of the parts I'm using : Bud Industeries Alum Box : http://ca.mouser.com...ey563-AN-2857-B DB9 W/P socket & cover (as is first post) : http://www.l-com.com/item.aspx?id=7341 http://www.l-com.com...m.aspx?id=10860 10way Ampnenol plug & socket for sensors, sensor grounds & EDIS pip/saw etc : http://ca.mouser.com...54-MS3102E18-1S http://ca.mouser.com...54-MS3106F18-1P http://ca.mouser.com...4-10-040450-018 14way Amphenol plug & socket for power, relays feeds & injectors etc : http://ca.mouser.com...4-MS3102E20-27P http://ca.mouser.com...4-MS3106F20-27S http://ca.mouser.com...4-10-040450-020 Plan to mount the MS directly into the bottom of the box, if I used a chassis plate it would mean going up to the 3.5" tall version & then it's got alot of wasted space & looks HUGE. Will tap the mounting screws through the box bottom, put a plain nut on the inside & seal with red loctite. That should be watertight enough for my application. Relays will be mounted along with the fuse box on the bulkhead in my install, ECU behind the drivers seat (LHD) as I don't expect to see many river crossings here.... but lots of high mountain passes & plenty of power line cuts Will post up a pic once I get the box made up, am still waiting for the DB37 & cable loom from DIYAutotune to arrive. Hopefully be here next week. Cheers, Andy PS... Chek you mail, need a favor
landy_andy
Here is a picture of the MS sat in the alum box, as you can see it's quite a tight fit. I think that I'm going to change the right angle db9 to a vertical mount & straighten the LEDs too. Might also trim the end plates down so they just hold the PCB into the bottom half of the case. There will be little stress on the db37 without the plug shell anyway and it's leads will only be ~6" long to the Amphenol chassis sockets. Would have been nice if B&G had put 3 more pillar mounting holes in the PCB, could have disposed of the case altogether then and mounted directly into the bottom of the box. Do you have a good lead on a brass bulkhead connector for the MAP pipe, ideally with hose barbs on it. I can get plastic ones but there not ideal.
