LR NUT
Hi Folks Im needing my towbar on my Disco 2 to be out a little further away from the rear bumper. The largest tow bar spacer I can find is 50mm! Can you get a larger size than this at all? What does the law state about doubling up spacers is this legal? cheers
Orgasmic Farmer
Sounds like you need a different towbar. More than 50mm would be putting a lot of stress on the fixing bolts
zardos
For vehicles manufacturer after 1st August 1998 can only have type approved towbars fitted (94/20/EC) So you would have to contact your towbar's manufacturer to see if gained approval with a spacer and how big the spacer could be. My guess that it would not be approved with a spacer as type approved towbars are usually specially designed for a vehicle and should not normally require a spacer. Range Rover Blues
LR sold a long-neck towball for the Disco, it had 2 loops on the side for the breakaway cable, I've seen them on DII towbars. Otherwise an Al-Ko towball or a Dixon-Bates "Pinball Wizard" combination hitch.
