Baz2236
Hi my steering on my 90 has gone very heavy so I decided to take a look as it seems to be getting heavier. I took off the steering bar and tried to move the drop arm but i really have to pull / push on it and lever myself to move it even with the engine running. However If I turn the steering wheel It moves easy. Is this normal I have bleed the Power steering and loosen off the adjustment nut so there is a small amount of free play. Does it sound like my Steering box has had it, Its the orginal one from when it was a N/A so i guess its been in there from new. Is there anything else I can try before I splash out on another steering box. Are all the Steering boxes the same I know the disco have differnt drop arm but can you fit the defender one on are the PS pipe all the same thread across the years. Thanks in advance Baz
vulcan bomber
Theres a few different steering boxes available. You might want to check the condition of your swivel bearings, drop arm ball joint, track rod ends etc first.

Baz2236
Hi thanks for the replies I have just got the drop arm on now so the swivels are not connected should I be able to move arm easily because if I move the steering wheel it's easy just not if I try and move the arm. Baz2236
How can I test the pump ? I will jack the axle up today and try to turn each wheel and try it with out steering damper.
