mudmagnet Posted April 13, 2012 Share Posted April 13, 2012 my 300tdi disco L reg has developed a fault, it runs for a while and keeps loosing power then cuts out, after restarting there is a bit of smoke then it runs fine for a minute until the problems start again, things i have done so far are changed lift pump, cleaned sedimenter, changed fuel filter, changed air filter,checked inttercooler pipes arnt delaminating and checked that lift pump is pumping fuel. i am at a loss what to do next as i cant drive the car now anyone any ideas please Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
BogMonster Posted April 13, 2012 Share Posted April 13, 2012 May be corrosion in the fuel pickup pipes letting it draw air into the system. If its on the suction side you will see no leak but can give symptoms like you describe. I've only ever seen it on 200Tdis but I think the pickup on the 300 is metal so may have the same problem. The ones I saw, it was where the steel pipe comes out the top of the tank and bends through 90 deg that the pinholes were. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

mudmagnet Posted April 13, 2012 Author Share Posted April 13, 2012 i think one of the pipes or fuel pick up is blocked as when it last cut out i removed the fuel filter and there was a vacuum hiss when i opened it and not much fuel in the filter Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
