Bailey-90
Hi, Im new to this forum but to cut it short i am completely rebuilding a series 3 and converting it to 200tdi, I have an engine but found that the turbo compressor wheel is fairly damaged. Can i just change this wheel as the turbo shaft and exhaust side are in working condition. Jack
BogMonster
I wouldn't try it - they spin at 50,000 odd rpm and I think it's got to be balanced as a complete assembly so even if you could find somebody to sell you just the turbine I think you'd find it would rattle itself to bits in no time if it wasn't balanced. It looks like it's sucked some debris in. Bet she squeals with that?
Bailey-90
Hmm i thought this may be the case. Only just bought the engine and it was from a 120k miles discovery the intake pipe had split and sucked some dirt in by the looks of things. The actuator has siezed as well, think a second hand turbo may be needed.

CwazyWabbit
Worth thinking about where that debris ended up.... is it stuck in the intercooler partially blocking it? or worse still has it ended up going through the engine and possibly damaging it?
